Farah Barqawi is a writer, poet, performer, educator and feminist organizer. She works across multiple genres and mediums, from written words, to podcasts, singing, and theatrical performances.

Farah writes in both Arabic and English, and her poetry and prose have appeared in multiple other languages, both online and in print.

In 2018, she created a solo theatrical piece, Baba, Come to Me, which she toured for the following two years. She also wrote, produced, and hosted the fourth season of the Arabic podcast Eib (Shame) in cooperation with SOWT, tackling modern stories and issues related to love and relationships. The series has received high praise and acclaim, and has topped the charts in the Arab World (2019).

Farah is the co-founder of two feminist projects: Wiki Gender, a participatory platform for Arabic knowledge production and curation on gender and feminism; and The Uprising of Women in the Arab World; a secular platform that campaigns for women’s rights in Arabic speaking countries. She holds a master’s degree in public policy from University of Chicago (2011) and an MFA in creative nonfiction writing from New York University (2024), where she also taught creative writing to undergraduates.

Born to Palestinian parents in Damascus, Farah has lived and moved between different places such as Palestine, United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Egypt, Germany, and the United States. She is currently found between New York City and Berlin.
